Cockatoo Creek Timbers was founded by Rob Parker on the hinterland plateau of Northern New South Wales over thirty years ago. Rob has crafted a well seasoned reputation of supplying some of the best quality native timber in NSW. Brendan took over the running of Cockatoo Creek in 2017. Brendan continues to run the business with the same environmental integrity and love of fine, slow sawn and seasoned timber.

Seasoning and Kiln Drying

You can't rush quality timber. Seasoned timber is stable and resistant to cracking and warping. Our timber is seasoned for at least 12 months. Select timbers are then finished in the kiln, aiming to reduce the moisture content to between 8 and 14%. This timber is premium quality, supremely stable and suitable for interior joinery.

HARVESTING

What sets us apart from so many timber operators is that we produce slow, quality timber on a small scale. Our timber is sourced from private landholdings rather than industrial forestry operations. We literally take one tree at a time, as thoughtfully as possible. We look to salvage fallen timber before we cut any trees down. When we do, we harvest sensitively, ensuring that we leave the canopy and the edges remain intact, just selecting individual high quality trees to produce the very best timber.
